Downspout Extensions in Pasco County & Tampa Bay
A gutter's job is not finished at the bottom of the downspout. If the water lands two feet from the slab, it soaks the same soil the house is sitting on — and in Florida that soil is often sand over a high water table.
Downspout extensions carry that discharge out to somewhere it can do no harm: a swale, a lower area of the yard, a drainage easement or a pop-up emitter away from the structure. On homes with a lanai or pool deck, they also stop water sheeting across a surface you actually walk on.
We look at grade before we recommend a length. An extension that dumps into a low spot has moved the problem, not solved it. Where there is nowhere sensible for surface water to go, a French drain is usually the better answer, and we will say so.

How far should a downspout extend from the house?
Far enough to reach ground that falls away from the structure. Several feet is a common starting point, but the real answer comes from the grade on your specific lot.
Can the extension be buried?
Usually yes. We pipe the discharge underground to a pop-up emitter or a suitable outlet where the yard allows it.
Will it help with a soggy yard?
It helps if the soggy area is being fed by roof water. If the yard is holding surface water on its own, a French drain is the right tool.
Do extensions clog?
Buried lines can, which is why we size them properly, keep the runs as direct as possible and pair them with clean gutters or guards.
Can you match the extension to my gutter colour?
Yes, above-ground extensions are matched to the existing downspout wherever the colour is available.
